Nitrogen Treatment

The requirement to minimise the impact of treated effluent discharge to the environment is an important component of best practice for sustainable onsite wastewater management.

Nitrogen is present in wastewater and can often be beneficial for plant growth when treated and irrigated to land. However, some reduction is often needed to ensure that any possible surface water runoff does not have the potential to impact on waterways, and to ensure effluent movement through soil does not impact on groundwater quality.  

Nitrogen management is an essential component of sustainable onsite wastewater management, and Orenco Systems®, Inc. AdvanTex® Wastewater Treatment Systems are very affective at reducing nitrogen in the wastewater stream.

For locations that are culturally or environmentally sensitive, more stringent nitrogen limits can be a license requirement to protect vulnerable environmental receptors. In these cases, ENVR can design and deliver customised AdvanTex® systems integrating an Anoxic Moving Bed Bioreactor (MBBRd) for enhanced nitrogen removal.
