Orenco's Prelos™ Effluent Sewers provides an efficient, affordable, and sustainable solution for communities in need of sewer infrastructure, whether it’s new, an expansion, a repair, or replacement. Unlike gravity sewers which require deep excavations to install manholes and large diameter mainlines, liquid only effluent sewers are easily installed with light duty equipment, reducing the cost and duration of construction.
With an Prelos™ Effluent Sewer, primary treatment happens in an Prelos™ processing tank at each house or business. Solids remain in the tank, where they are reduced by as much as 80 percent a year via natural decomposition. Consequently, under normal conditions of use, most tanks typically need pumping just once every 10-to-12 years.
The filtered effluent flows through small-diameter collection lines to a treatment facility. The load from each household is much lower than it would be with a gravity sewer, vacuum sewer, or grinder system, because only filtered liquids are transported, not solids. As a result, overall energy requirements at the treatment facility are also much lower.
Prelos™ is the answer for community sewer, offering low life-cycle and initial capital costs and enabling more cost-effective wastewater treatment. Effluent sewers can affordably serve small, spread-out communities, largely because they use small-diameter, shallowly buried, and easy to place PVC or HDPE mains along variable grades to transport primary treated wastewater to a secondary or advanced treatment facility, rather than using large diameter, deeply excavated mains laid at a constant slope.
